Toxic and Non Toxic Relationships

I have learned that a lot of young people don’t know that they are in a bad relationship or a toxic relationship until its to late. Many of the times the relationships have lead young people to go to the extremes of killing themselves of the person they are in a relationship with. Statistics have shown that 13% of teenage girls who said they have been in a relationship report being physically hurt or hit. More than 1 in 4 teenage girls in a relationship (26%) report enduring repeated verbal abuse. 62% of Tweens (age 11-14) who have been in a relationship say they know friends who have been verbally abused (called stupid, worthless, ugly, etc) by a boyfriend/girlfriend.Only 26% of batterers are required to submit to supervised visits with their children.85% of domestic violence victims are women.In 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, no matter which partner was killed, the man physically abused the woman before the murder.(Pomerleau). I Believe that this should be taught because like an article stated…

“Young people should be tought by an Adult the difference between a bad and a good relationship.”

Young people are naive at relationships because they don’t know what they are facing or because they dont know how to handle the other person that is treating them like they aren’t worth anything. Many times that type of reproach makes them feel like no one loves them. At times young people face reproach with their parents and friends because “everyone” around them is pushing them aside. Many young people don’t know how to handle that much stress and then it affects their concentration at school, work, and home.

Young people should be aware of the way that they can handle all that type of stress. They should have some type of support and they should find some kind of counselor that can help them guide them to do better and control their stress.
